Sorry to hear about that man, that's really rough. I' keep my eyes peeled up here. Hearing stuff like this moves the kill-switch install higher on my priority list.

Recovered Smurfy Blue!

This monring came the word that my Blue FJ60 was sitting in Tacoma, I got the location and drove out to it. Called 911, waited on the street for the cops to come, they released it to me. There is 500+ miles added to her, the dash is ripped out and stereo gone, there is oil all over the place, to cover fingerprints I guess. And what's wierd is, they didn't jimmy the door lock or the ignition, perhaps had a similair Toyota Key or ???? Anyway, thanks to all on here who consoled and offered to keep their eyes open for me. You guys are great.

WOOT!

Man,

Good to hear she's back where she belongs. Abandoned or somewhere they could id who took it?

I guess it doesn't matter but in cases like these I want to see the guilty party pay.

Once again, congrats on getting it back!

Glad to hear it.
Is the dash trashed or just taken apart?
Also, is there oil damage?

What he meant to say was "who told you where it was cause I wanted to keep it?"

Glad you got it back!!!

Maybe time to call Al at Titus-wil Toyota or CDan for a new lock set (if still available), then call Connie for that LoJack (still gota get mine). Would make finding it next time much easier

I wouldn't rule out an "inside job" with some one that had access to keys at some point. A rig like that would be easy to spot.

Glad you got it back.

Ours was also found(stolen from Gig Harbor) in Tacoma, Tyler St about 40th......right where the new gun store is(not there at the time). Ours was found by my Toyota parts guy at Titus Will when takin his dog to the Vet, they were not done with it yet........but in the end(6+ months of LE work) 60+ people went to jail, many chop shops raided......they happen to steal the wrong persons Cruisers

same story, doors not jimmed nor the ignition, like I said......its EASY to take a 80's toyota...only 30 odd keys for all

glad she is home

Smurfy recovery story

Inside job? well yea, I am putting that back on the table as a possibility, since I heard from the seller the exact location of the rig. But I want to choose my words carefully (he may be reading here Innocent till proven, etc.), as I have no proof or anything, just that he (the seller) knew the guy who 'spotted' it and was able to give me the name and # of the 'spotter' and an exact address of the location of the Cruiser, on S. 18th Street 3100 block just off Union Ave. I did not call the number of the guy he gave me the name of who was 'in the know'. What I did was call the Federal Way Police, drove out to the location, called the Tacoma police, waited a block away, did not see anything or anyone suspicious at the house # given. The Tacoma PD knocked on door, of course no answer. It was removed from the 'hot list' and I was able/allowed to drive it home, oily mess inside/outside and all. Not sure on whether it was inside job (hate to think so, thought the seller was a straight up kinda guy) or random thief who knew about the ease of Toyota theivery. I will be wanting the Lojack or some other form of theft deterrent (and or recovery device). For now, the Rhodesian Ridgeback will be riding along for the first line of defense until such devices are installed. Man, if it wasn't for this thread, I think the thief might not have felt the karma generated to let it be found in one piece!

Will keep my eyes open in the Harbor
A cop opened mine up with the key to his new GMC patrol wagon when I locked my keyes in once

Algonaman, I'll keep my eyes open as well. I'm all over the state quite a bit, so if I see anything, you can be sure I'll be on the phone to 911.

Edit: N/M, just saw you got it back. Good to hear.

Spook it's been found!

Hey I found it yesterday, drove it home! explained above in earlier posts to this thread. Anyway thanks for the help, as to all it's nice to know there's Cruiserheads out there looking out for each other. Lke I said, it might even be possible the thief is on here reading, felt pressured to let it be 'discovered'. I was very suspisious of the way in which I came about the knowledge of it's whereabouts, the information on it's status was exact, tempting me to believe they knew more than some innocent third party might have known about it. I am left wondering about the connection between the seller and the guy who spotted it, as well as the location of the rig (I was given an exact address, it was right in front of that address on the street parked along with other street parked cars. Looked like it had been sitting, but had an extra 500+ miles (I think, I could be wrong there) Maybe a joyride to Portland and back? Then stereo stolen just to get whatever they could, greased and oiled all fingerprints to cover tracks, etc. Just glad she's back in the stable, and I was too paranoid to drive her to work this morning until I give her a good once over and make it more theft deterrent.

I'd rule out he PO......but maybe not some folks he knows or knew he sold the 60, or some asshat that looked at it before you.

but chances are.......it was just random, I mean do ya really think the theif followed you to Lowes? highly unlikey I think......it was just there and it was simply stolen by the many low lifes that do shit like this, and when you can use keys it alot less obvious when breaking into it.

ours was takin 20ft away from Connie when she was in the store, downtown Gig Harbor..locked up(she is very good about that) Theifs where just waiting for the right rig to pull into steal and had blocked the view by the van they were driving(which is also one of the ways we cought them) Hey......people in town here think this will not happen to them....but thiefs think the otherway....easy pickins and we our off guards and feel secure.....what better place to rob/steal?
