U-Bolt Dimensions...

Hey All,
I am in the middle of installing a 2.5" lift on my 83 Bj60 - Actually, its more like a 5" lift, seeing as the original springs were perfectly flat, maybe even reverse arched a bit.

I have hit a minor snag: Despite some serious soaking in penetrating fluid, I torqued the nuts off of some of the u-bolts. I will be heading to a spring shop here in town to have them bend me some new ones. I'll be measuring them myself tomorrow, but I would like to double check with the mud gurus here to see what the dimensions are for both the rear round ones, and the front square ones.

I have the back springs pretty well in order - I managed to remove two u-bolts without shearing anything, so one side is sitting on rubber while the other side is still on jack stands. I ran out of light and will attack the fronts tomorrow. I'll be replacing all the u-bolts with new ones once I can get them made but I'll have to wait till monday.

The help is appreciated, I'll post before and after pics when I'm through.

Howdy! I took a couple of my old u-bolts into a local spring shop to get replacements. They just matched the curve and length of the old ones. I even upgraded to the next larger size bolt stock. All I had to do was ream out the holes in the mounting plates to match the new bolts. Cheap and easy. John

When you spec the length of new ones, be sure to account for any change in spring pack thickness.
