You don't need adaptor plates. That's what gaffer tape was invented for.

o.k. guys so I was fairly busy today with alot of different things.
I first off concentrated on my fuel tank.
I started off with a Lone Ranger Long range fuel tanke, and cut it up.
O.k. here are 2 shots of the old tank, side and front-on.

Step 1. Fill with water.

Step 2. Cut. Create about 52L tank.
just with this one when I was cutting the top off of it I didn't expect the tank to be enclosed in the upper tank section. I now have to get the upper section welded as well as the ends and the brackets.

Step 3. Install in back of truck.
with this picture the tank is back to front (the vent is on the passenger side, but when finished it will be on the driver's side). The under-car clearance is very good but it will only get better as I am raising the tank another 3".
Also the rear of the tray will be positioned 4" above the rear of the chassis (where the towball is) which is about an inh higher from where it is now. The front of the tray will be raised 1 1/2' and will be located 5" above the chassis mounts at the front behind the cab.

Step 4. Check out clearance issues.
The tank will be moved 30mm to the driver side of the chassis, and 60mm will be cut off of the end of the tank.

All up today was good, got alot done, and there is more to come.

Today I also worked on the tool box to driveshaft clearance issues.
Issue: Only 5" clearance

Issue: 8" travel :(

Fix: more green paint

This is the metal I cut away.

I do not have pix of tray on car yet (slack I know), but I now have 10" (almost) of clearance. Does look sweet installed on truck.

o.k. so i have been fairly busy around the house and with family for the past 3 days so I haven't done alot of work on the car ( and have no pics ).
but I have pulled the dash out, and have tore the steering column down.
I have also organised a door to pick-up on thursday (1 out of 2..........)
anyway back to it tonight.
tonight i hope to have the cab stripped down (with the windscreen left in it for now), and then I have to start fabricating a rotisserie for the cab to go on. I haven't started yet as I needed to get measurements from the underside of the cab, and I also had to go out and get some castor wheels so that i can wheel the rotisserie around the 'workshop' while i work on the cab. I now have wheels and the steel so i am good to go.

um..... so I have been slack.
Well not really......... just busy @ work. :( :(
Anyhow....
I do have some work lined up, and it will be waiting until I get back from work in about 6weeks.
Also I have ben looking into and researching welders.
@ this stage it looks as though I will be getting a Lincoln MiG because I can gett it (including a Mig alloy torch) for less then a TiG. And with the Alloy torch I will be able to alloy weld whereas with the TiG I would have been only able to do ferrous metals.
Oh........ I may also have a colour change.......... (but I can't lt the cat out of the bag yet).
Anyhowz.
I also need an engineering ticket. :(

o.k. so since the last TAC meeting 3 weeks ago I have had some thinking to do, because they wanted my car to be engineered but I really really do not want to engineer my car; therefore.
After talking to Jak, and sorting out some form of plan-of-attack, I have decided to never again register my car.
For my last TAC application I had to make a few comprimises to try and get them to pass my car for registration purposes but even after I put forward a (very) strong case of mitigation against an engineer's ticket, and they didn't see eye to eye, I have decided to do whateva the hell I want and GO EXTREME.
Therefore Davo's cruiser will be the big purple trailer Queen.
This now mean no more comprimises.
yay  yay yay yayay yayayay
So the plan kinda stands as it did before:
big tyres
half doors
radiator in the back
custom wiring loom
custom dash
new seats
custom inner gaurds
custom tray.
And these are the comprimises I don't have to worry about any more:
lower the cab 4"
widen the wheel track
38.5x15" tyres
beadlocks
no headlights to get filled with water

Oh and then there is this one:
front and rear 3-links setups with coil-over/ fox shox, check out other post!

OMFL................ my project has gone from 60 series on 31's to.............. I have no idea what on 39's.......
Maybe I have inadequecy issues......

The Alcan Orbit eye springs you were going to use, where do you get them from in Oz? or were you getting them sent from the US? I want a set for the rear of my hj60

Paul

Paul I was going to order them in from the states.

I am now not using them and going front and rear true 3-link.

GUYS do not worry about the above post. Things have changed (again).
This now mean no more comprimises. (still)

yay  yay yay yayay yayayay

So the plan kinda stands as it did before:
big tyres (well not that big, just wide, 36/15.50R15LT MTZ mickey thompson)
half doors (welded shut)
radiator in the back (with thermo fans)
custom wiring loom (or lack thereof)
custom dash (actually just integrated into the rollcage with a panel in it, with a few gauges, and switches)
new seats
custom inner gaurds (canvas ones)
custom tray (or lack thereof)

And these are the more hardcore mods:
lower the cab 4" (and boat side it, and about 12 other sublte here, and major here mods)
widen the wheel track 8"s wider in the middle diff.
beadlocks (staun internals)
no headlights to get filled with water (no taillights, no indicators, just 2 spotlights (spreadbeam) for night driving, my theory in life is nighttime is for eating and drinking).
home made 4-link (2" lowers and uppers, triangulated, most likely with FK ends from poly)
6x6
diff R&P
crawler gears in t/case
mid-mounted hydraulic winch (double line front pull, single line pull from rear)
no front fenders, no rear bodywork
full-hydraulic steering.

And probably more that I can't think of for now.

And guys don't hold your breath on the build.
Mookie got into me about updating my thrads, but I won't be well and truly starting the build for a good 4 months due to work.

but when I get the chance to do something here and there I will be sure to chuck some pics up.
