My first priority is to address the sloppy front end and get it running like new again. New windshield,H55f 5speed so looking forward to this one. I have an ARB Bull bar, 32x11.5-15 BfG AT, OME 2.5" lift, IPOR front seats, repaint same color(paint looks good in photo but is badly faded up close) redo interior with coating (herculiner) and new carpet, new dash pad, IPF headlight upgrade, Hella Black Magics, and if I have any money left a rear bumper with spare swing out. I have everything except the carpet waiting for install. As you can see I have no garage to work in and am of questionable skills (read basic maintenence only) I am pretty excited- still unsure about where to have it painted.

I would recomend that the first thing you do is get it mechanically dialed in.

Rebuild your front knuckles and replace the axles seal, since they are leaking. Fix you leaking power steering pump before it smokes your smog pump. It looks like your left front springpack is a bit wet. Make sure your chain hoist works on your spare tire carrier.

Do a good tune up, plugs, dist cap, plug wires, air filter, change all fluids, etc. Once you get it all dialed in then start bolting on the accessories.

I have a 62 that color and i'm thinking about painting my 45 that color. My 99 Tahoe is close to that color.

That is the plan- I am having Peter Merriam go over it from top to bottom and get all the kinks worked out and get it running "like a silk purse" as he says. I am looking forward to driving this truck in its oem perfection. no headers, no v8, just good ole straight six goodness. It gets dropped off friday. It rained/snowed here right before that pic, although I looked and see what you mean.

2x. Get a good mechanical baseline first. You can source out a power steering pump on the board. Check for guys that have a clean
working pump that are doing V-8 conversions. I picked up a nice
spare from a fellow mudder off the board who had one he was not
using.

All really good advice- I am looking forward to finding all the little issues and resolving them. As a canvas the truck is driving great. starts up first time in the cold (-5 degree windchill this am) mornings. Heater needs to be flushed, I have a case of Amsoil for engine, front and rear diff- manual trans, and transfer. I plan on having brake, clutch, and radiator flushed. I will keep you updated on progress- Got my new BFG's on today (32x11.5-15) and what a difference. Seems to roll so much better than the cracked and dry Mud terrains. I really appreciate all of the help you guys have provided.

I would pull a quart of oil from the crankscase and add a quart of tranny fluid. Run the vehicle until it get warm at least a few times. Get groceries, etc.

This will begin to desludge the inside of the engine. The stuff you drain out of the oil pan will be dark and nasty. I would add dino oil and do the rest of the tune up and when you are ready to add the Amsoil Synthetic do the same procedure with the tranny fluid.

Keep and eye on your oil pressure. I have plugged the oil pick up screen in an engine by desludging it. and lost oil pressure.

I love the color of your truck! Is that a factory color or a repaint gray?

Truck Looks good and looks like you picked a good list of mods for it. Where are you near Asheville? There are a few of us around here. I have a stock white 62 and am over near Chimney Rock. If you need a spare set of hands or feel like talking cruiser with someone who doesn't roll their eyes at you (read my wife) let me know.

We are in Sylva. Me and the family have been up to Chimney rock a few times. We love that area. I know what you mean about people not really caring about our beloved cruisers. I think the people at work are really sick of me bringing it up. I will let you know when I get it back and maybe we could do a maintenance day or something.

Do you need the factory chrome rocker panel trim pieces? There is one on each side. I can't tell if you have them on there or not. It looks like they are missing.

I have a set if interested.

I have them here- they were falling off- I almost would like to do away with them. Any pros or cons to keeping or removing? Obviously I would fill the holes if not replaced.
