Got the front back together and started it. I have oil pouring out from the balancer seal...Yes it is a new seal. So I am going to tear it down and see what is going on. I hope that crank isn't FUBAR.

Looks like I have time to shop

If it takes a few weeks to get all the parts, I guess I can take this time to price out suspension kits and 5-speeds.
Thanks Randy.

Bionic Blue is just sneering at it from the street..........I need to come over and recenter the axle maybe early Sat, hook up the rear sway and a-waaaaay, weeeee, go! Man I wanna drive that thing so bad I can taste it. I won't take it off Ruby w/o rear axle fixed. Promise. Probably should insure it too........and it's gonna need some tires, and an ARB, new bumpers, plus specter seat covers a la Lee.....

Hijack finis.

Fixed the center pin on Bionic but the frame is slightly tweaked. I drove it over to Sunset awaiting repair parts to get her going.

BTW it still drives like a classic!

Second Hijack over!

ahh... your the one who bought it. Went and looked at it in Lakeway. You should post pics of the interior as the PO kept it clean replaced anything worn, and the diamond matt flooring looks great. PO also had all the documentation from any work done on it with the original car dealer sticker.

There is a couple of minor rust bubbles and and that is it. As long as the Crank isn't messed up that 60 was a steal (actually at the price you bought it either way it was a steal!!) I kicked myself for passing that one by .

Post some Cruiser Porn of the interior and let everyone else enjoy.

Coming soon

Yup. I am the impulse FJ60 buyer.
The 2 previous owners took great care of the truck.

They both said that they wished they never sold it. I promised to send them pictures on the FJ's birthday.

I cant wait to get the cruiser back. Randy is getting her good and ready for me. My 3 year old has now become as obsessed about the cruiser as I am. We both talk about it like a family member.

I will throw pics up on this thread.

ok a quick update on the Great White Hope

as a few of you may know the crank had to be pulled on the truck as it still refused to coroperate and was still leaking some oil out of the front main when running also the rear main is also leaking some. Randy gave me a call and asked if i could lend a hand Of course always ready to help a fellow cruiser fanatic and in this case close friend and previous co-worker i am def not gonna say no. He explained to me what was goin on and how he has been slammed at his new job and other things he could use a hand catching up. I said sure, so I drove over and picked up the cruiser and towed her to my house and rested her in my garage. I will be droping the transmission and pulling the crank and swaping in the "new" one while there replaceing both main seals. I was also asked to do a knuckle rebuild... I again said of course (i hate knucle rebuilds). and am currently taking a brake from that to type on here and snap a couple pictures.

knuckles were not even half as bad as my truck was so its not TOO big a mess tho it has made one.
The picture so far are of the passenger side I checked the birf for any abnormal wear I.E. cracks in bell or inside bell, checked for any play and found nothing so it is rockin and ready to go in once i clean things up a little.

picture time. most i think are self explanitory.

nther comparison shot of marlin seals to stock inner axle seals, Picture of cruiser outfitters complete knuckle rebuild kit and KOYO bearings. (very nice kit), then a picture of the invoice of one of our supporting vendors. (my finger is to block out the customers personal information.)

all in all this truck has obviously been maintained the knuckles were leaking but not too bad the birf was kinda washed out of grease and had more gear lube in it then grease, inside the knuckle was nice and full of grease and was obvious it had been filled up from the top plug as to keep it maintained.

Cool. Gooey. Degrease that sucker.......Welcome to axle tear-down land. Just don't forget to put the hub seal in after you are all done with the inner job and disc brakes are back on, etc. I redid mine recently from the axle housing on out with swapped in 62 parts. I had the hub seals leftover. What a shock that was. NOT.

See what happens when you don't watch mud. I am going to get over there so we can knock out the crank portion as soon as the parts come in. HOPEFULLY by this weekend they will get here. Some of it will be here tomorrow!!

good average is around 6 hrs after everything is all cleaned up...As you can tell the clean up is the worst part.
