2BADS other ROTW 60s STYLE
i bought my 84 60 about 6 years ago, bone stock except for the heavy duty tow package and stereo.
it also has the cool racing stripes
drove it the way it was for the first couple years while planning the SOA i was gonna do.
read tons of info on Pirate4x4 (didn't know about Mud at this point) and asked tons of questions.
talked to Jesse at High Angle about the front drive shaft. a rear mini shaft cut down was what i went with and Jesse recomended, since i was going to do a cut and turn.
collected all my parts in the meantime. on a budget it took a while to get them rounded up.
so after the SOA was done, we went to CM05, unregistered we loaded up the 60 and set off to moab.
there, after coming down from the waterfall, i broke the rear pinion farting around on a little bump on poison spyder trail.
fortunatly, some ATVs were coming down and they went for help for us.(i had my wife, son and two dogs)
the ATV'rs ran into Robbie from Slee at the time, coming up to fix another broken cruiser that had just passed us in a group heading back down from the trail.
there was nothing we could do at this time but leave the 60 on the trail for the night.
Robbie and i joked about "renting a jeep to go fix the cruiser" the next day. and thats just what i had to do
Robbie was a huge help (he did'nt have to either cause we were not a registered rig with the event) but he did. Robbie is a great guy!!!
so after signing a waiver on the jeep rental saying i would not take the jeep on certian trails (poison spyder included) (fingers crossed) Robbie suggested to the dinner to see if i could find a diff to swap out. no good,no response. this wasn't looking good.
after the dinner, i went and walked Slick Rock Campground and asked about everyone if they had a diff.
the last alley in "shanty town" i walked thru, i came across a group from "World Wide Off-Road" they had one in a complete housing and pulled out in a matter of minutes for me.
anyway, went up the next day, had a ton of help and Kurt (cruiser outfitters) was a huge help getting off a stuck brake drum.
after that i added a wrap bar
http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.p...light=wrap+bar
then it broke later on and needed a fix
http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.p...light=wrap+bar
haven't done a whole lot to it.
front tube bumper, which i am very happy with
http://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/186162-no-top-hoops-me.html
oh yeah, a little body work in the last month or so
http://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/187931-solid-rock-roll.html
one of these days i'll have my oun rear bumper. i use my 60 for final fitment on customers bumpers.
http://forum.ih8mud.com/%2A%2A-ih8mud-com-vendor-marketplace-%2A%2A/185654-need-ladder-your-60-a.html
any future plans you ask
i have everything lined up to put a SBC in the 60.
once i get my 40 back on the road,we (84cruiser and i) will get the Chebby dropped in.
need also to replace the front springs and re-mount one more ford shock tower on the pass side.
a inside/out cage is definitly in the near future. tubed front fenders are in the mix also.
a pic of its good side

Don't youhave a 60 that is SOA without a C&T? I know you have posted before that it is not needed and you can use the spring pads on top of the axle as SOA perches. Is this all true? I would really love to do an SOA, but I am on a budget.

Did you modify the pads that were already on the axle?

Good looking truck Jim. If you need a hand dropping in the SBC, count me in! I'm considering the same for my rig.

Not really sure how this applies to being on a budget. I think 90% of us are, but you want to do it right or you will spend more $ in the long run. C&T shouldnt cost you much more than if you are just doing a soa. A SOA isnt a cheap lift, if you do it right.

More pics!
Nice going, 2bad.
Does it make anyone think why none of his great stuff is on his own rig?
I want to see more pics of the spring over and suspension.

i do have my own front bumper (finally)
and my hack welded frame mounted sliders, well, one came off when we rolled back to its tires after the roll i have some steel cut for new ones
i'll get more pics soon.

Nope, you know the old tale of the cobbler's son, right?
The thing I like most about your 60 Jim is how it looks different every time I see it!

ok here's a couple.
the first two are the mounts i made when i did the SOA. i've broken the lower mounts on each side almost everytime i wheeled.
ford towers were cut down.
time to re-think these
