ROTW: PAFJ '85 Fj60
I bought this rig three years ago and it has been evolving into expedition/trail rig since then.
Here’s what I’ve done in the past two years:
Engine-
Recently did an engine swap with a 12K mi. Jasper engine.
Engine Swap Begins - IH8MUD.com Forum
Engine block heater
Man-A-Fre ceramic header- w/ new 2 ½” pipe, hi-flow cat, and Magnaflow exhaust
Desmogged
Jim C. rebuilt carb, and dizzy recurve; also have Jim’s idler pulley for smog pump removal
Stainless battery trays
12voltGuy dual battery solenoid and switching panel
Other items replaced:
OEM fuel pump
OEM heater and radiator hoses
OEM water pump
Clutch master and slave cylinders replaced
Chassis and Drive train-
POR 15’d the frame
Knuckle rebuild w/ POR 15 on knuckles
New brake rotors and pads up front… (Rear brakes coming soon)
New clutch installed w/ flywheel resurfacing
Replaced some leaky transmission seals
Rebuilt and painted Aisin hubs
Exterior-
Slee H4 headlight harness
OME heavy/heavy
33x9.50 BFG All Terrains
Stock powder coated wheels
Hood shock conversion, (one of my favorite mods yet).
New rear lift gate shocks, (also one of my favorites).
3M clear vinyl tape added to rocker panels
Some minor rust spots cleaned and repainted
De-Blinged… (rain gutter trim and snake blinders removed), also rear license plate bezel painted black
Interior-
Tuffy center console
62 series grab bar
62 series rear seat w/ headrests
Tuff Duck seat covers all around
VDO temp, vacuum, and oil psi gauges
George’s LED dome lights front and rear
LED replacement lights in the gauge cluster
I’m probably missing a few things as well.
Thanks for looking… enjoy the pictures.

Thanks for the comments, I know I really need to take it out and get her dirty.
As far as the gauges, I really don't like the position much, they're hard to see through the steering wheel, and because of the position I have to take my eyes off the road too long. Eventually, I will probably look for an alternative mounting position.

That is a fantastic 60, i was thinking about how cool it would be to have a 60 that was clean and had all the little details taken care of, and yours fits that bill perfectly.
Great job.

Nice truck... it's almost like the twin of mine, only much cleaner!
Seriously though, it's purty! It's ready for another 200K. Got any more details on the hood shocks?

Thanks all for the kind comments. I really love this rig, I hope to enjoy it for many more years.
sk8salomon- I'm averaging around 14 mpg... this is mostly city driving.
Cameron- Much cleaner... I don't know about that! Here is a link to Spook50's thread on the hook shock conversion. This is one of those awesome $50 and under mods. I highly recommend it!

Thanks Redcorn... I wish it had the stance of yours!
The desmogged performance is awesome, idles smooth, no hesitation, etc; however, a lot of my smog equipment was failing on me. If not and was still operational... it would of been far less of a headache to not touch it. There were a lot of frustrating moments trying to figure it all out.

Where did you get that trim ring for around the head unit? I have the same one but my PO used strips of wood and a ton of wood glue to fill the cracks and it looks horrible. So I want to get one.

holy kershmoly, that's a clean looking 60!
I'm going to have to stop looking at this part of Mud... it's making me sad. I don't want to sell my 60, but I sorta have to.
As an aside: Mace, not sure I can do November ROTW... may not have the 60 by then :(
