windshield wiper relay

My windshield wiper for the rear of my fj62 was inop and after tearing apart the rear of my vehicle I found out the wiper motor was fine but the relay for the motor which is tucked in the left rear quarter panel by the tire jack was completly corroded and ruined. I can jumper 2 of the wires together to make the wiper run, but it won't shut off. has anyone out there experienced this and have a solution other than pay through the a$$ to toyota for a new one?

Are you sure it's the relay and not the wires between the upper tailgate and the body? I had a similar issue and those wires were broken.

make a new circuit with a relay that pass and cut V to the wiper motor. With a light switch.

figured it out, the switch up front in provides a ground to the relay in the back, I just put a generic relay in there from napa and everthing works great except for the intermittent, but not a big deal, the thing that screwed me up was that the damn thing was powered all the time the ignition was on. if only the damn manuals provided good wiring diagrams that showed it the way it was. all well problem solved for $6
