Options for an early '84

Ok, so I've decided to keep my 60 and fix er up. Starting with the tranny, and working from there. My 60 was made in April 84 so a H55 tranny wont bolt in direct. How much of a pain is it to install a 5 speed in an early 60? Are the modifications really a pain, or just so-so. Or maybe I should just drop another 4 speed in there, and rebuild my t-case, clutch, etc. Any suggestions from someone who has done this before? Regards

I upgraded to a 5 speed and really like it. It is not a big deal to change the driveshaft lengths and transfer case shifters. It is going to cost quite a bit more than another used 4 speed if you buy the 5 speed new. It depends on how much money you want to spend and how much overdrive you really want. The 5 speed gives you a better overdrive and also the lower 1st gear.

5spd on a 60?

5 speed tranny, is it worth it?
