84 FJ60 w/ 237,000 miles . . . problems?

What problems or specific issues would you all look for in a 1984 FJ60 with 237,000 miles. Does anybody have a rough idea of the market value for such a rig (hard to say, I know)?

Thanks
Rob

It might need an oil change.

Replace the 1/2 inch heater hose on the driver side rear of the engine.

Replace all the vacuum hoses.

Replace the EGR gasket at the manifold..

Replace all the rubber hoses and belts.

Get the carb rebuilt.

The power steering pump will start to leak-replace it before it wrecks your air pump.

Rebuild the knuckles.

Replace the wheel bearings.

Re-torque the head bolts.

Set the valves to spec.

Have the rear diff rebuilt.

Replace the seal between the tranny and transfer, yours is bad.

Good to go for at least another 50K. (Not kidding about most of this)

you might be able to just get away with rotating the tires. Maybe balance them too...and replace the windshield wipers also, definitely important...those wipers.

Huh, Never heard of re-torquing the head bolts. Everything else I did.

Can you elaborate? Im just guessing they loosen up after 25 years.

Re-torquing the head bolts just improves your chances of not having a head gasket leak. Also easy to do while you are adjusting the valves.

Depending on what area you are located in, I would check for rust on frame and body. A compression check is also always good to do before buying a new cruiser.

You know, I meant another 50k before any more service, but at 50k intervals you will be doing knuckle jobs, belt replacements etc. If you have not replaced that @#$% hose on the DS firewall, you have just jinxed yourself.
