Yeah too bad, Im sure someone will buy it. If nobody does then I'll find me a FJ40 donor and may that can be my next project !!!

I took the engine out over the weekend and boy was it an adventure or what !!!

AINTSCARED, you make it all look to easy man... It took me about 2 hours to get that focker out, and using a load leveler was quite a learning experience hahahahaha, for reals...

I cut the mounts off and grinded everything flat...
Using oven cleaner made taking the grease off of the frame rails a very easy task, thanks for the tip Randy !!!

This week, I'll be painting and polishing off as much as I can. I also took the front bumper out and thinking grinding the supports off to make room for a new front bumper.
Here are the pics of the work done and the complete 2F engine.

I second that but you made good progress...When you get to cleaning up the frame get some LPS #3 rust inhibitor PN# 003169 from Grainger and shoot it inside the frame since you got it out.It will give ya a little piece of mind.

hahahaha I was too busy trying not to drop the whole thing. At one point the whole set up was straight up at a 90° angle.
Im telling yah it was a head trip pulling that sucker out. But at the end we managed to level it.

Shane, I will let yah know.
Thanks man..

But of course, all koolaid kids are invited....
I spoke with a second smog reff and I'll take that as my final asnwer.

He said this:
"The tranny has to stay with the engine for emission reasons.
You can keep the 5 speed if it does not messes up with the emissions stuff.
The engine can be mated to the 5 speed if it was a dealer option here in Kalifurnia.
Do your home work."

Wow, pretty straight forward Eh !!!

Leg is still attached !!!!
Down to one crutch now but I can't sit and just let time go by...
Too damn hard to do that...
I can hear the calling !!!

Philos1, in the next two weeks I'll get the tranny and adapters all done and then drop the engine in (that is when I'll need your mad welding skills)...... Gotta do the gear box too. Do you guys think I should tap it... Im planning on running bigger tires in the future...

This ia awesome! I am trying to get the info to do this to my fj60. Lots of good info! but here come the questions from a rookie.
1) How does the whole cooling thing work? Upgrade radiators, or will the OEM work?
2)Are you going to use a fuel cell or weld another nipple on to your gas tank?
3)How do you attatch all the belts to the new motor? Is it all compatable?
Keep up the hard work, im jelous!

Manuchao! Man sorry I've been on the sidelines... But they've got me working 60+ hours per week. I put in 68 hours 2weeks ago. And looks like its going to get worse. I would luv to go and hang out and do some wrenching. I plan to do this swap in the future.

Would you be able to do a write up?

Shopping list?

1- keep the stock radiator
2- stock gas tank, use existing lines mated to GM lines
3- use GM peripherals and you're all set

mostly the little things are time consuming.

Manuchao, let me know and I'll weld ya up.- I'd keep gear changes to the axles rather than the case- less hassle and less $$$

cheers.
