fixing rear fender rust????

Has anyone fixed the rear fender rust? I need to do that before we can have our 60 painted. I would like to do it myself, but I have never done anything like that before. another question, has anyone ever used mayco painters? They said they will paint it for 599.00 I had a local guy give me a bid and he said 2500, with no warranty.

a lot of people "trim" the rear quarter panels not only to give it better groud clearance on the "big Butt" but is also looks good. Take a look at exiled's rig it has professionally trimed and tucked rear quarters.

I have a plan for my rotted quarters but have not started yet.

good luck with whatever you have decided......rust removal the correct way is expensive.

I just cut the rust out and covered with fiber-glass and bondo. Not the best fix, but it'll do for a couple of years until I move out of the city where I can work on it. I had it painted at Maaco for $300, used a coupon and got one of their "high-end" deals for half off. It's been about a year and a half and the paint job is fine. There was over spray and stuff but that's better than the patches of rust I had. Then when I get time later I'll go back and do everything right.
