Opinion on next upgrade

I am almost ready to make my next upgrade and I can decide which way to go. I need to get lower gearing and am not sure which way to go. My choices are:

new gears
5 speed
new lower transfer case box.

I know that the gears are the cheepest but want more than just the cheapest fix. I also dont want to lose my overdirve. I am leaning towards the 5 speed and then I can start on possibly a springover and 37 but usually these things go on for years before I start the next phase. I still need to put in a locker and other things on the never ending list. I see a possible course of action as:

1 5 speed to give me a lower gear for climbing and still be able to drive on road
2nd: New gears and a locker at a furture date.
3rd: Springover and larger tires which get me back to normal ratio's.

Any thoughts on this progression and personal experiences would be appreciated.

Makes sense. You can always do the gears at a later date.

If you want to go with 37's, I would go with the gears first

do you use the 60 as a DD or only for wheeling?

i would say go with the 5 speed for sure if using on road and especially as a DD.

depends on what the purpose of the vehicle is or what it will become.

If its not a full time driver:

Marlin toy box
locker and gears
springover
5speed or if it becomes a dedicated wheeler... sm465 or th350

i'd go with the tcase. i had 4.56s in my 60 and had to go to 4.11s for daily driving, but i loved the low range off road.

It is a third car for me, but I love driving it around. I will trailer if its more than 2 to 3 hours but like to drive it on the highway between trails. Right now first gear is way to tall. When I haul it to colorado I have trouble taking off in first. I also want a lower climbing ratio and thats why I am considering new tranfer case from Marks adapters ( I think that the company). I also feel like if I get a 5 speed it will be a better all around fit. Low first and hi top end. I am afraid if I just do gears then I will be trailering it everywhere I go.

I am quite sure any path I take will work but can make a decision.

Another option I am thinking on is after the 5 speed, I would like to get a 62 and use the axles for lower gearing, cut up or change out the body if its clean and make 2fe. So many options and so little time.

I would not do the springover and tires until the rest was done.
