rear end oil seals

hey everybody I'm new to the wonderful world of land cruisers. I just bought a 1984 hj60 and I love it to death. so far I only have two questions how do I pull apart my rear end in order to replace the gear oil seals? I got as far as removing the six nuts and washers on the hub and cant figure out how to get any further than that. My second question is can I get a turbo for my cruiser I'm not sure of the engine model all I know is that it's a six cylinder. Any help or instruction on these subjects would be greatly appreciated

you have a 2H motor (i think). You should be able to turbo it, but youll find more info in the diesel and 24volt section. Also i think you have to pull the axle shafts out before you can pull the third member (shouldnt be too hard as i think you have full floater axles.

Please post some pics you lucky B_stard! And welcome to the addiction.

which seals exactly are you trying to change?

BTW, check out:

www.sor.com

they have very clear exploded view diagrams which may help you visualize what you're getting into. they have diagrams for just about any part you could ever need but they're a little on the pricey side.

straight 6 diesel? i'm envious...

you might try posting this in the diesel forum as well.

welcome to the club (addiction)

1st stop is a workshop manual.
Sounds like you trying to pull the axles
You will need to decide if you have full floater or semi floater axles.
The full floaters have a hub that extends past the centre of the wheel.
Semi floaters are flush with the wheel. They need to have some clips released from the diff centre before you can pull the axles out
