Bj60+fj62+turbo= Bjt62

I am pulling the 3fe/a440 from my clean 62 and installing the 3b/h42 from my RUSTY bj along with a Garrett/Mercedes t3 turbocharger.

I am building a dedicated family daily driver.

The bj has some serious rust issues and a great drive train.

The fj has a seriously nice everything except the transmission and side steps.

NO RUST!!!!!!

It has been in my North Central Florida its whole life.

I am the third owner.

The two previous owners kept it in TIP TOP condition.

It has always been garaged.

Sweet 62. Better bulldog - she looks happy.

Is there a 5 speed in that 60 that's going to be taking up space?

How do the steps mount? Would you be willing to part with them? I could use some for the moment.

Lemme know if you need the radiator core support from the 60.

It is perfect. :EDIT: it is not so "perfect" sorry AL

So far the conversion has been a blast.

I am working out side and the weather is great.

Today I ripped in to the 62 @ full speed for 5 hours.

I managed to get this all done with my basic tools from sears/walmart.

I removed:

spare tire and bracket
skid plates
heat shields ( to be reinstalled)
hitch
drive shafts
battery/ tray
radiator
air cleaner
transfer controls
starter
complete exhaust
gas tank
transmission and cross member
transfer
fan/shroud
cpu
harness

You gotta get a set of "Gear Wrenches"

Dont get the imitations..... they don't work so well.

I am able to cut work time with these tools.

Although I have never broken one,

Sears, Napa or Lowes will warranty them if needed.

I have a few flex ends, stubbies and most popular metric sizes for my cruiser.

I learned today to unbolt the converter BEFORE dropping the trans.

I damaged it while removing the transmission. (see pic)

more pics from today

I used a 2x4 between the front springs to support the rear of the engine.

I also stuffed a cinder block and some 2x4 chunks under the pan

Nothing fancy here

I am NOT going to install the draw tie from the 60 on the 62.

It is too rusty.

note "lcr4wd" decal - thanks Steve for your dedication to the site

Looks like a nice clean 62. I did the same conversion to my 62 2 years ago...it pays off as the increased mpg's are worth it...DOUBLE the mpg!
How coe you did not pull the engine tranny together? Pull off that rad support and pull it straight out..really alot easier.

Like I said you will really enjoy, the only fault I see so far is the alternator is a little low on amp. for all the accessories. Are you going to run A/C? I was lucky as the bj60 I usd had factory A/C.

Looking good
Daryl

I am going to pull the core support on the bj.

I took the 62 apart in pieces in order not to damage the truck.

I will be running a/c in the 62. This is a major factor for the conversion.

My 60 doesn't have it.
