Thanks to the two meticulous previuos owners....... The whole truck is that clean. I used a castrol super clean and h20. I am not done cleaning the undercarriage yet. Both underhood and underneath will be getting new paint once cleaned. The steamer I need, is booked for another week. (see post #43) I am next on the rental list. __________________ 82 Fj60 TurkeyWizz THXAL 88 BJ62 Family Truckster http://nfcruiserheads.org/forum/index.php Last edited by mel lowe; 05-14-07 at 07:28 AM. |

I'm loving this thread,
...and apparently Al's lovin' the Toyota diesel. I'm extremely interested to see if that turbo's going to be big enough for the 3B. __________________ Nicholas 1983 BJ60 (click here for specs) www.myspace.com/bj60 Here's a slide show of my truck Snorkel install thread Last edited by Rig of Mortis; 03-15-07 at 03:51 PM. |

First thing is to cut off the 3fe mounts on the frame...they are in the way...if you want I can tell you how I got the 3b mounts in the EXACT same location on the 62 frame as the 60...it is real easy.

just read this hole thred. Very impressive. I have a 62, almost as clean as yours, but not quite, some rust in a few spots, but nothing that cannot be fixed. And I live in michigan. so I was surprised to find it in the shape it was in.
I would like to try an isuzu swap in mine. Are the bolt patterns for the yota 4sp and the H55F the same. Do they use the same clutch with same splines and such. How about hooking H55F to my t-case? Are adapters out there for a H55F to SBC 350? I am yeat to find them, but I have found the isuzu adapters. http://www.isuzudieselswapper.com/ I would like to try it, do you have any suggestions, or advice. thanks -nate the diesel newbie- __________________ Kettering University Incoming Freshman 1988 FJ 62, 1994 4Runner, 2001 4Runner, 2006 VW TDI, 1992 Plymouth Laser, 1999 Heep of Junk Wrangler Live in the thumb of michigan? JEALOUSY is a be-atch! BUT, I GOT A NEW ROOF FOR $100! It's coming from NC and the dude is making a trip to Orlando in April and will swing it by. Rust, say your prayers!!! After I chop and swap, I will repaint and we will have ourselves a little beauty contest!
Anyone ever race a 3B-T vs. a naturally aspirated 2H? |

Nice after pics with the clean truck. Keep up the work on the truck. What you are doing is a full tear down and inspection like that of aircraft. This is a a requirment for aircraft after the aircraft has accumulated so many flight hours. Never less its excellent you are taking the painstaking steps in doing a full inspection and replacement. Keep up the good work.

It depends on wheels and tire size, weight of the rig .. etc .. but in similar rigs, conditions .. my money it's also on the 3B-T
No chance for natural aspirated engines .. |

Tofudy,
Don't make me call the girl with the rover. Thanks Charles (cruiser_guy) for this great tech info: Mel, the A/C brackets for the 3B are nearly unobtainium!! I paid $300 for mine. You'll also need the A/C amplifier because the gasser one doesn't work (it needs a coil signal, something the diesel DOESN'T have). A friend of mine has one for sale in the diesel parts section now. If you go with power steering you may also need to change the alternator as they are on the same bracket as the power steering pump and the geometry is slightly different on the alternator. Check the crank pulley as well. The old ones have only two bolt holes and do not hold the power steering or altenator pulleys on. The one you need has 6 bolt holes. As you can see, it's not that easy! I will be using the 62 power steering box, and possibly the pump. Billy G husk sent me these pictures of a diy ps mount on his 3b. His system places the pump above the box. This will allow me to reuse alt. I am going to run the 62 ac compressor in a 3b ac bracket I picked up from Isohbie. The bracket came w/o a idler pulley, so I am still searching for one. Not too sure about the ac amplifier. My 3b crank pulley is the basic 2 hole model. Gunnar is tapping 4 new holes and adding 2 pulleys from a toyo van. This will be my new 3b triple pulley. The toyo van parts fit right on the current single 3b pulley. The 3fe pulley won't fit on the 3b. __________________ 82 Fj60 TurkeyWizz THXAL 88 BJ62 Family Truckster http://nfcruiserheads.org/forum/index.php Last edited by mel lowe; 11-05-07 at 07:28 AM. |

Scavenging all parts from the bj........
The bj60 engine mounts will need to be welded to the 62s frame. Check out my 78 volvo wagon....... It is my current dd. Yeah, I painted the wagon wheels. The volvo can carry many cruiser parts at once. Al refers to it as a 2wd smushed 60. __________________ 82 Fj60 TurkeyWizz THXAL 88 BJ62 Family Truckster http://nfcruiserheads.org/forum/index.php Last edited by mel lowe; 10-28-07 at 07:50 AM. |
