fao calicruiser

got my front seat out and the carpeting out and the floorboards cleaned and am ready to install the sound deadener (damplifier). will probably do that saturday afternoon and sunday as well assuming it doesnt rain.

you said you might want to watch or see what im doing so if youre interested in coming into town send me a pm before friday and i can arrange to maybe fit to your schedule.

im planning on installing the base stuff (damplifier) saturday and then sunday gluing the closed cell foam over the damplifier material and then reinstalling and gluing down my carpets as well as reinstalling the interior ive taken out.

thats all im doing at this point though: front carpets up the firewall as far as i get without pulling the heater. it took pretty much all afternoon monday getting to the point of being able to install...pulling seats, carpet, padding and cleaning in prep for installation.

if time and material allows (i think i will have plenty of material) then i will probably do the damplifier in the front doors and in the rear fender panels as well but that might not be this weekend, due to the time required to clean the areas to be covered. my main point in this exercise is to cut down on some of the roar coming off my 350 chevy transplant so thats why the concentration on the front seat/firewall area.

You got the wooden roller right? it really helps with the install- I also keep some of the backing paper handy to help rub the deadener down in tight corners/bends. Air bubbles can be pressed out by cutting a small "X" over the bubble and rolling over it. If you don't have one, get a cheapo snap-off retractable blade to keep the cutting easy.

Still working on mine as I'm doing my motor swap, but I can tell a HUGE difference already.

good luck and have a good time too!

i havent got a roller but somehow thought i probably wouldnt need one...may get proven wrong though! i do have a couple of box cutter utility knives with fresh blades, an exacto with a box of #11 blades and some other cutting implements.

i was just looking at your work philos, very nice, hope mine lays down as well as yours has. youre actually doing much larger area than i am so i can see how the roller might really help in your situation.

thanks for the tip on the backing paper; im sure there will be plenty lying around the area!

Ah man unfortunently I am gonna be up in Reno all weekend. Good luck with the install, I wish I could swing by.
