Help a Newbie

Hello All, I have been lurking for quite awhile now trying to get a grip on all that's going on with LC's. I've been getting real close to buying one a couple times but I'm still not sure which way to go. All I want it for is traveling to fishing spots and that may involve some slight back roads and lots of highway driving. I've looked at a V-8 convertion thats in the local paper, and I just let a sweet Red 87 get away. I've been trying to find out just what it takes to do upgrades ( besides money ) the search doesn't help much, like where do you get the H55 Trans.5 speed ( what LC does it come from ) so if I bought the V-8 how do you mate the two, or is that the best way to go? Things like that. Also I'm still looking so if someone knows of a LC that's not alot of money in the 85 to 88 range please let me know. I think I can do some builds. I've built a 86 Suzuki Samurai - 98 Suzuki Sidekick and a 90 Toyota truck. Those are small compared to the LC. Enough rambling, thanks for the help.

All takes money if you do not have superior fab skills.

a stock LC will do every thing you just asked about..

if you think you want a v8 and h55 etc., i'm thinking you might be money ahead to buy it that way instead of doing it yourself after.

i use my cruiser just the way you describe and it does great. lots of room and you can fit a queen blow up mattress in the back for camping.

mine is pretty stock too.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like you need anything more than a well tuned cruiser. Get a 62 and don't worry about a 5 speed for the OD.
