whats the best v8 for a 60?
so ive been doin plenty of searching, and i cant come to a definite answer on whats the best v8 to swap in. I did manage to figure that the 350 sbc is popular as hell, but theres also a vortec 5.3L that ive been watching, and looks super clean... so whats yall's opinion?

just like the CB, but with the scrambler pipes and drum brakes... in between CB and SL, mines set up for street- sort of cafe style. but it's running like shit now, and I'm spending all my time on the vortec swap...have to fix it later.
Hijack over.

Since you live in the People's Republic of California, you need a CA smog-legal engine. If you do a lot of altitude changes an EFI is best. The now-old Vortec 5.7s are plentiful & relatively cheap (see phil's thread), but the new-generation (III?) ones are smaller, lighter, more powerful, & get better gas mileage.
Also, the older the engine the more mods available. And the more conversions done with that configuration.

Come on, Guys, Everybody knows the Ford 302 with an Edlebrock 750 CFM 4 bbl is the best small v-8 ever made.
Too bad there are no off-the-shelf installation kits for this engine.

Of course I am thinking fuel injected 502/4L80E/Klune/Splitcase, but that may not be enough.

I'm going for a 92-96 TBI SBC. The 94 is a nice option; the alt is on top and it has a serpintine set up. I'm staying in Ca so smog is an issue!

if your going to order the split case you better make it quick. I called advanced adapters and they had only 13 left! Kind of shot my build up in the foot and I wasnt really looking to risk blowing the shaft and not be able to find a replacement......2 cents

CRUISERGREG:
It is all part of the Chevy Small Block Conspiracy...
Our farm is on the border of Colorado at the north end of Taos County, outside the village of Costilla. Latitude 36 degrees, 59 minutes and some durn seconds. Longitude? I'll have to ask Magellan when he gets back from Spain.
We are on the east and west side of NM Highway 522; the last place before leaving NM OR the first place when entering NM. That would be to or from Colorado, not Planet Earth. Although, there is supposed to be an Interdemensional Gate up the creek road apieace; this would be onethat leads to a wormhole used by certain neighbors of mine whom I am sure are aliens.
