So I put in a nice shiny rebuilt carb. That's the only thing I changed out. When I start it, it cranks (better than before actually) and I got it to start up but then it'd immediately stall.

There is gas in the sight glass. And the truck did start just fine before. I compared the all the screws on the rebuilt one to the old and they all seemed to be extremely close to eachother.

Would improper vaccum lines cause this? (or would it just cause it to idle roughly) Or should I re-check idle screws?


With a rebuilt carb, do I need to have the choke pulled when I'm starting it?

Assumptions:
This is an FJ60, with an Aisan 2bbl carb and all stock emissions.


Yes, incorrectly routed vac lines can make the engine stall.

Yes, the choke is used to start the engine.


Have you verified that ICS makes a click sound when the connector is plugged/unplugged?

Yes, I should have been clear - completely stock FJ60 with an Aisan carb.

Is ICS the green electrical plug? If so I'm fairly sure it did click, I'll add that to the list of things I'm going to check again.

I'm going to also go over the vac lines again.

I guess the fact that it'll start up but then immediately stall seems odd to me. I would think if there was a problem that it would start up, be unsteady, then eventually stall.

Hopefully it is something nice and simple. Because when the engine was briefly running, it sounded much stronger than it ever has

A quick update: Looked over all the hoses again and it seemed they were all in the right position, pumped the gas a bunch of times and it started up.

There was some smoke but I'm guess that's any extra carb cleaner and the WD-40 I sprayed on some bolts/screws being burned off.

When I pushed the choke all the way in, it wasn't running too smooth. I'll try upping the idle speed and see what happens with that.

Make sure the carb is seated squarely against the insulator thing under it. If you tightened one of the bolts to far before tightening the others, you may have a vac leak under the carb.
