| Bad 4WD Solenoid & Green 4x4 Light Always On... I guess my problem is common on FJ62s - it doesn't come out of four-wheel drive. My light has been on for a month while I try to figure out how to fix it and what exactly is broken.
Well, I owe one big THANK YOU to the January/Febuary 2007 issue of Toyota Trails for answering all my questions in it's TECH EXCHANGE section of the magazine. In this issue, Mark gives the quick fix (which worked) and the permanent fix (which I'll do in the future).
So, if you have a FJ62 stuck in 4WD, then let me refer you to Toyota Trails for a perfect explanation. Thanks John for asking and Mark for the answer!

| Hmmm... I've been having the same problem so I replaced the old solenoid with the 60 bypass (had one in the garage) and no dice... assuming the replacement is good, what next? The light is still on... |

| Try manually switching the hoses. You can also just bypass the valves alltogether by just running manifold vacuum straight to the 2wd hardline on the firewall.

There is a write up on transfer case solinoids in the FAQ. This is a good "how to" on the valves: http://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php...3&postcount=44

| Okay... so I swapped out the solenoid with the air-bypass from a 60 and had no change... so I switched some vacuum lines like you're supposed to do and that didn't do it either. I do have vacuum when the engine's running... could it be an electrical problem? Is it the t-case itself youthink? Suggestions? I am going to pick up some mac valves this week but now I'm not so sure they will help me... |

| Have you verified that the front driveshaft is engaged and the light just isnt on all the time now without reason?
Try jumping the line from the intake manifold straight to the hard lines to the tcase. If one side or the other doesnt disengage it, you might have a little blockage in the hardlines. I had a little peice of junk in the hardline and it kept mine from engaging quickly.

I am going to pick up some mac valves this week but now I'm not so sure they will help me... | I've had this problem for a while. for me I need to jumper 2 of the vacuum lines together (I use a small elbow from some other vacuum stuff) then I have to put in drive or reverse (might switch back and forth a couple of times) and cycle the 4x4 button. It pops out after a few times.
I also have been investigating an alternative to the mac valves. My friend says he can get a vacuum switch (manually engages) from a pile of spare parts he has at work ( some machine he works on has them)
He says it will work the same as the solenoid.
