60 series long range gas tank

I searched the SOR site for the Aux tank and could not find it. What can you tell me about it? Where does it go? I currently have the 40 gal MAF tank in my 60 and really like it. Thanks

60 series long range gas tank

Sorry my last post was in response to crawlin60's post of 1-2-03. I guess I should have looked at the date.

I've been waiting since about November for windows from MAF. Just needed checkups about once a month to Steve-O (on this board), and got a call this week he has some for me. Sometimes it works out quickly, sometimes it doesn't, but Steve has given me a new outlook on MAF for his persistence and followup.

I may be the exception, but I have never had a problem with MAF. It's not a place to order from when you need stuff in a hurry, but I've been lucky, my stuff has shipped relatively quickly every time.

I don't know if SOR or MAF still carry the 18-gallon auxiliary tank. I believe it's a Longer Ranger tank, or used to be. The one I have experience with was installed six years ago and sourced from one of the two shops.

Nope.

I thank you for putting me onto it.

I did not even know they had such a thing for the 60's until I searched. Every time I searched for a long range fuel tank I came up with the 80 series stuff or the 40 series stuff. I never thought to specifically search in the 60 series section.

Last friday night I was laying under my rig installing my new OME lift. I was thinking about installing my extra FJ60 tank under the frame directly under the factory location.

I don't know if it would fit, but it would give me aprox 44 gallons of fuel. I have a Kaymar bumper so getting to the factory mounted spare is out of the question so I have the room to do it.

I was about to post up a thread asking if some one had every done this before.

Thanks Again!

Has anyone heard of and or installed one like this? Replacement rather than auxiliary tank.

long range gas tank

That looks like the tank I have on my 60. That price looked good as man-A Fre wants 775.00 for the same tank.

If you want the ultimate setup for long range travel, get the 50 gallon replacement tank and the 34 gallon aux tank. 84 gallons of gas which is around 550 lbs. of fuel!!! If only I had a bunch of cash laying around.

does any one have a cad drawing of a long range tank (any brand) or measurements with attachment detail? Just thinking of doing some local pricing of getting some tanks made.

my LRA tank is supposedly good for 150 liters, at an unknown temperature. It works out to about 40 gallons. The aux tank might be a chore to get ahold of, like Mike observed, being that if MAF were to get it it'd sell for maybe more than the main tank (see the price gap between the 80 series main and aux, I forget the details). I'd go custom, it'll prob. be less money.

Opposite Lock out of AU makes a 190 liter (50 gallon) replacement tank......
http://oppositelock.com.au/redesign/...7&itemID=FTT65

I have seen another company out of AU that makes a 190 liter replacement tank as well, but I can't remember the name. I'll have to dig through my bookmarks.

Yeah, no price listed but expect to pay $$$$. Only person I know of that has one is HZJ60 Guy. I would expect that with shipping, the total price would be at least $1K or more.
