This is my first post and I'm fairly new to IH8MUD. But I'm not new to an unhealthy obsession with Land Cruisers. I just think they're swell! Anyways, I've owned a 1968 factory soft top FJ40 for 10 years and I sold a 1993 FJ80 with lockers. Man, both beautiful models and the FJ40 I don't think I can ever part with. But... I just was able to purchase a 1988 FJ62 this fall. Hence, my posting on this FJ60 forum. So, I knew/know little about FJ60/62s but am trying to quickly get familiar with my new rig. Anyways, I'm very happy with it as the previous owner was restoring it to stock beauty and put a lot of work and $$ into it without molesting it.
Now, my question: It looked like it had rarely if ever been off-roaded and the previous owner said she never took it out. So, I felt it my duty as a loving father to stretch my rig's legs a little bit. Isn't it what she was made for? I got out and locked the hubs and then pushed the switch (vacuum?) inside and the 4x4 green light came on. And sure enough, I was in 4 high and got out of the mud. Later, I tested 4 low and the torque lunge showed me it was also working. Once on the highway again (5 hours later b/c we got lost

) I pushed the switch to "off" and got out and unlocked the hubs. However, the switch light is forever staying "on". That's my concern... What does that switch activate? Is it vacuum like my FJ40? If it's just the light then I don't really care, but I'm worried that the vaccum is still engaged.
My hubs are unlocked and the 4x4 switch is "out" and in the "off" position but the light won't go off. Is it a faulty light switch or am I still driving in 4 high with unlocked hubs (if you know what I mean by that)? Thanks for any help with this. Much love to FJ60/62 owners!
