Brighter Headlights for FJ60???
Does anyone know of brighter replacement headlights for a 60? I am sure mine are working fine but am now used to the more modern, brighter lights.
Thanks |

Brighter Headlights for FJ60???
Hella, IPF, Cibie all make a H-4 E-code headlight with a much better beam pattern. you can upgrade the bulbs from 55/60 to higher ONLY if you upgrade the wiring harness. But I bet you would be very pleased with a pair of H-4's even with 55/60watts.
I run IPF's myself in 5 Cruisers......I LOVE em. John H |

Brighter Headlights for FJ60???
I've got SilverStars from AutoZone on my pu, they make them in the round headlight like on my FJ and if it was my daily driver I would have to get them for it. There $20 a piece. I know APC makes some as well that are brighter than the SilverStars but not sure in the round sealed beams.

Re:Brighter Headlights for FJ60???
I recently replaced my stock headlights with Hella Vision Plus replacement headlights. Popped then in in 10 minutes, adjusted them, and there is a BIG improvement. These are available for about $35 each, and pump out a lot more light than the stock numbers.

I got a set up from www.suvlights.com. The 7" headlight shell, halogen bulbs and heavy duty wiring harness. Very simple install. Now I can see at night!

Brighter Headlights for FJ60???
I've got the e code hella's with 55/60's. I don't dispute that you need to upgrade the wiring or get a harness to up the wattage beyond 55/60. But I see from the fj60 wiring diagram that a relay system from the factory is already in place. True or False? ...so would it still be necessary to upgrade the wiring..

yes there is a relay, but the power runs back thru the switch and the wiring is undersized for much more than 55/60. WHen you upgrade the harness you run right off the battery, the switch just trips the relay, no real power goes thru it now.

Brighter Headlights for FJ60???
I am currently running 55/100w in my 60 with no upgraded wiring harness (not sure why I would need that... But I havent had any problems. Now granted, I typically only use brights in offroad situations and have never had them on for hours and hours straight. But still, no problems and I love the wide and white blast of light.

I've the Cibie e-code H4s with the suvlights harness and the difference is unf#%&ing-believable, to someone that toiled in the f#$%ing dark by comparison before. But then I also have since put in the Blitz240s and there is no night to speak of now....

Re:Brighter Headlights for FJ60???
I just bought Hella euro type headlights and the Hella FF1000 7" aux driving lights. Also bought the Hella horns... but that's a different story.
I'm looking forward to being able to see! |

Brighter Headlights for FJ60???
Here is where I bought my H4's. This is about the cheapest I could find. They are Hella too..
http://www.rallylights.com/hella/7in.asp Seemed like I got them cheaper, but maybe not. Good luck... |

I will mention it again, the Hella's are very nice but the IPF(warning they might have changed the pattern in the last few months) with a Hella bulb is MUCH nicer, the pattern of the IPF is just better IMOP. I would like to get ahold of a set of Cibie's, had a set 15+ years ago and LOVED em

also, for the fj60 get the SUV lights Toyota only H-4 harness. For a fj40 get the normal H-4 harness. If you use the normal in the 60 the highbeam indicator doens't work.

You Pimpster, it's hard for me to believe that a German product (Hella) are inferior to IPF lights!~
I have IPF head lights and driving lights on my diesel samurai. They are bright. TB |

I have used the APC(ricer stuff) harness, but I don't see them listed anymore. you NEED the one for a Toyota only for a fj60 or the highbeem light on dash will not work. I have been looking on-line and I see no one makes the H-4 Toyota harness anymore. I paid like $30 for mine.
ARB/IPF sells one, but its like $90 Quote:

I have the 920H Headlamp 7" Round IPF's with the optional C41B Whitemax H4 55/60 Blue after Burners.
Not Cheap 7"round $62 pair Afterburners $40.00 pair H.D. wiring harness $82.00 (don't need) Came along with my FJ60.........awesome !! best light I have had on road less driven. Make sure you get the Bling Bling Blue After Burners to go with em....They glow blue for 15-20 min after you shut your lights off.............these rule ! IPF uses a high pressue exotic gas mix in the bulb. This new process gives illumination equal to 80W on low beam 110W on high beam, with no added load to the factory wiring harness. The bulb has a phosphorescent ring at the base that stores light energy. When the lights are turned off, it will continue to glow for about ten minutes with enough light to find your way around in an average garage. Used with the IPF headlamp replacements, they'll make the Hella, PIAA, and every other competitor's H4s look dim. These H-4 headlamps replace your factory headlight with a double coated lens 3/8" hardened polished glass for extreme strength against rocks and chips and against high heat situations. The lens is prism and column cut. Other H4 lights exist on the market, and we've experimented with a few different brands, the IPF lights are by far the best light pattern and chip resistant of the bunch. These are no better H4 lights than IPF. These incredible lights turn the night into day when you are driving and provides a sharp cutoff which means these lights shine less into the eye of oncoming drivers than your factory lights, while providing a dramatic increase in nightime visibility on the highway, and off to the shoulder. The very best H4 light available. __________________ TLCA#12161 Since 2001 Buncha 'OL Toyota Cars & Trucks "Some very fast, some very slow" Last edited by Razor; 09-22-04 at 08:41 PM. |

you are not replacing or cutting anything, you are bypassing the stock harness and takin power for the lights right off the batt/alt, so more volts. When instaled(and its plug and play) everythinig works like before.

Hey beachedFJ62, Try the Lightforce lights, Polycarbonate housings and lenses.....but for the best part, you rotate the lens body, and it changes the focus from a pencil to a wide beam! Very high quality, but still lightweight. They also include a breather system for submersing, not good with 130W and glass lenses. You can also get all colors for filters, including infra-red for the stealth missions! No aff |
