| Specter Allen Bolts for Differential Drain/Fill Hi All,
Searching through the threads I see that many folks are using the Specter Allen bolts for differential drain/fill plugs, transmission etc, found here: http://www.sor.com/sor/partpict.tam?...%201963%2D1973
My question is whether folks can provide any long term feedback as to how they like these over time vs. the stock bolts? Better, easier to deal with on the next fluid change?
Mahalo!

| They work well. I always end up grinding my diff plugs off on the rocks. My only concern is that the magnets dont seem to be as strong as the OE plugs. |

| They work well. But they are not a Spector part. They are an OEM Toyota part, they are the drain plugs they put in several cars. My Lexus has one in the drain plug for the transmission.
Search around for the part number, you can get them from your local dealer for less than $pector charges.

| Allen Diff plugs Have they caused any problems through not capturing as much metallic material or do you find you are just needing to drain out the cases more often?

| Get 'em from C-Dan. He's always got a few on the shelf.
I wouldn't fret about the capacity of the magnet.

| Differential Drain Plugs, Magnetic, 10mm allen: 90341-18021 ($2.03)
Differential Drain Plug Gasket: 12157-10010 ($0.89)
Just go to your local dealer. They are way cheap.

| I have never had a problem with the non-hex plugs.
If they ever strip I guess moving to the hex would be nice.
Agreed, go to the dealer and pick 'em up. |

| We have had problems on the rocky trail here with the stock hex bolts. The corners get caught by a rock and unscrewed. It doesn't seem like it should be possible, but I have seen it several times.
I've never seen that with the Allen style plugs. They work great and are highly reccomended. Cruiserdan at American Toyota is my source for those-I think they are stock in Camrys.

| What I'd really like to see is a square-drive plug w/ a 1/2" hole so I can just use my breaker bar. Or even a 3/8" would probably work just fine. I think Land Rover uses something like that... anyone know the thread/pitch of the plugs?
