Dave, would you believe that my 1995 FZJ-80 (Arab-spec) had a 1HD-T engine oil filter on it when I purchased it? I couldn't believe it when I saw it, but it seemed to have no problems --no oil leaks, no loss in oil pressure, no problem.
I checked the o-ring on both the 2UZ-FE/1FZ-FE oil filter and the metal part where it seals the 1FZ-FE engine, and it's identical in size and thread to the 1HD-T oil filter.
Changed it to the smaller 2UZ-FE/1FZ-FE oil filter of course, but I do wonder what would have been the benefits/issues/troubles if I kept that 1HD-T engine oil filter in there?
