If they are stock driveshafts, then there's no room in them for the axle to drop with the lift it has... they will come apart... That's why he hasn't wheeled it, and why it needs DS's.... Or would be my guess...
If it has a clean interior, and a clean bill of health on the drive train... I'd say 6k isn't too much... That's a long list of mods.... Just make sure everything's done right. And try to talk him down some....
