The Savage's bolt kicks up too high and would have hit the scope. These let the bolt clear. It actually lines up real nice for my eyes. I think I only added a 1/4" to the height. You can get away with stainless and aluminum, but I may also get some brass screws. It has brass right now, but slotted round head.........all the store had
