| Help! Hey everyone.
Well, I just got my 1987 60 home yesterday. I am wanting to do some fluid changes, tune up etc... my problem... I dont have many tools or a ton of experience with auto repairs. I have done ouil changes in the past changed starter and fuel pump on a 77 chevy monza, but other than that my expeience, as i said , is a bit limited. I am planning on ordering the FSMs from Dan(i do believe that is the link ive seen). I was just wondering if I could get some advice on some essential tools that I will need, some links to fluid specs or even some tips on basic maintenance. I am wanting to change out all fluids including diff. I have been searching for a while in regards to the above mentioned items but cant sem to find what Im looking for so I am asking my knowledgeable forum members for assistance.
Also, I noticed a clicking sound on acceleration which increases in speed with RPMs. it only happens when the tranny is engaged. While idling or while the clutch in engaged and tranny is in neutral it runs smoothly.
so to sum up my long winded post.. what I am looking for is advice on..
1. Tool set/items for basic maintenance.
2. Fluid type and specs?
3. basic locations/walk throughs of steps for fluid changes(mainly diff)
3. other items to consider (cleaners, solvents etc)
4. Thoughts on what the "clicking" noise could be caused by.
5. links to downloadable fsm while waiting for my hard copies.
I apologize if these have been discussed in any length before, I searched but couldnt find much. I have been to the FAQ page as well. Thanks in advance for your help. |
