Are you telling me that you have a math problem that looks like this:
X(sq) + 4X = -1
X(sq) + 4X + 4 = -1 + 4
And you have to solve for X?
Since the 4 is on both sides of the equation, then it is meaningless. I have no idea where the 4 came from. It doesn't make any sense. You at least know that X has to be a negative number, because the result is negative.
Anyway, repost the equation in a way that makes sense, because I cannot really tell what the equation you are trying to solve is from how you wrote it. I don't know if X2 is "X squared" and if 4 [lower case X] is different from 4 [upper case X].
