I just replace my pinion seal. Couple things seemed odd.
1. The Nut was not tight, I could easily tighten it once the stake was moved.
2. The Flange came right off by hand, no puller required.
3. There was an odd bit of metal between the seal and the washer behind. Like a strip of metal shaved off.
On the good side, there is no play in the shaft and everything looks good. (to my novice eye)
It looks like the sliver of metal was sliced off the washer (oil slinger in the FSM)
You can see a small piece here
But the bearing seems OK, ??
Just looking for input from anyone that is experienced.
Any thing to worry about, that sort of thing.
