Requesting a simple test on fuel sending unit
1971 FJ40 fuel tank sending unit. Using a multimeter, will someone see if there is direct continuity between the center connector (that goes to the fuel guage) and the ground screw with the key off? Mine has continuity which may be affecting the fuel guage. I believe the ground should not have continuity with the sending connector with the key off; grounding itself out, but should with the key on.....? Or am I wrong. Symptom is the fuel guage indicates 1/8 full on a full tank. There is a correct reading of 19 ohms on a full tank. Hope I am making sense. Thanks
