It was just bizarre, I fought that bastid for hours yesterday. Then it almost fell out this morning. All I did was give both axles one more yank, I didn't feel any movement but they must have gone just that bit further that allowed the thrust block to come out.
The front diff is out of the rear axle and the repaired rear third is installed.
