It sounds weird Dan, it isn't a difficult operation, usually. Is the ring hanging up on the short shaft of the third pinion gear?

I can't get the axles to move out far enough to clear the thrust block. I have the wheels and drums off is there something I'm forgetting?

It's frustrating because I've done this a few times before. I was hoping to get the rear end done today and the front torn down tomorrow. I wanted to get the knuckle service done Saturday and your SST back to you next week.
