Thanks Coolerman! Looks like I haven't been reading what you've been posting lately.

As for the 4Wheel Auto nuts and bolts, they may actually be a pretty good deal. Plus I am having a fun time finding JIS!

No problem, there are a LOT of post in this thread!

I got an interesting email back from a vendor. He claims that the reason no can find JIS stainless in certain sizes has to do with their strength compared to zinc bolts. He says an 8mm bolt in stainless REQUIRES a 13mm head otherwise it would shear off when torqued to spec.
Makes a bit of sense actually....

Thanks for posting those coolerman...

I added some more of the stuff on this thread to the excel sheet. From what Coolerman has contributed there are over 800 pieces (nuts/washers/bolts) and counting!

Thanks Coolerman for taking the time to do this for other people!

There is also quite a bit of other sizes contributed by other people, and some that I have measured by haven't entered.

The early 70s soft top FJ40 sizes are now well covered!

As I get further along in my revival of !Oy I'll keep posting. Especially when I start putting it back together. Then I'll know for sure what goes where and can get a verification of my previous measurements.

This site has been awfully good to me so I don't mind returning some of my work for others to benifit from.

Sorry bud. Should be an excel file?? I tried mine again and it works fine.

Let me know if you need/want me to send it again. I can probably copy it into MS Word.

I can't seem to find any screws to fit the defroster ducts to the windshield frame. There are 6 in all and the screw I have that fit's all of the welded on nuts has a 28 count per inch SAE thread count and what might very likely be a metric diameter...
I didn't have a .7 pitch unit to compare it to but the .80 and the 1.0 and 1.25 are not a match.

Any help from you amazing 'nuts' who've kept this thread going with so much awesome info so far?

Thanks!

WaAkFJ,
If you will send me a copy of the spreadsheet, I will try to host it somewhere for download so you won't have to email to God and everyone.

OK guys.. I have found the BEST PRICES EVER on metric / Hex Head / Grade 10.9 (YELLOW ZINC) Nuts and bolts, you will ever find.

And I will pass this onto my friends here on MUD...

Example pricing...

M6 x 1.00 x 20mm Grade 10.9 (yellow zinc) Hex Head $7.26 for qty 100
Locking Washers in grade 10.9 (yellow zinc) $3.19 for qty 100
Grade 10.9 Yellow zinc Nuts for 6mm x 1.00 $6.48 for qty 100

Thats only $16.93 for a complete set of 100 M6 Nuts bolts and L-washers.

Compare that to the CHEAPEST I could find on the web price of 33.00 PLUS shipping, and you can see that this is a supreme deal...

These are there in store prices. You would have to add shipping to this total.

The name of the Company is Cascade Nuts and Bolts and there right here in Salem OR... Phone number is 888-511-1005

Your Welcome

Nice, I wanna order right now, but I'm afraid of the shipping for the order I'll want. I'd like a set of 500 with locks, nuts. I'm working on several rigs and would like a stainless assortment. Thanks for sharing.

4x4 Auto...

The kit did come in.. sorry tied up a bit and just getting back to puttin something in this thread.

It looks VERY light to me even for a "frame on" .. however, this is only opinion and Dan said to let him know if anything I found was missing. It's got some funky "nipple" nuts in here etc..

I'll let you know when we dive in it. Have a buddy that ordered one and he's using it.

In all fairness to 4x4.. very nice folks easy to deal w/ and easy going. I'm a bit nervous bout the kit size.. but nothing but good things to say about them.

it does look light. very light.

did they include the proper 12mm head bolts? it is ALL SS, right?

if nothing else, it looks like a good start, and a descent box to store future purchases...

"proper" being the key word there.. it appears so.

All SS... Someone had to try it... hell it sounded tempting.

..we'll see and I'll be sure to let you know.
