I asked this question about 2 years ago and still haven't heard a solid answer. Is the factory color for the top and the bezel the same? And if so is it Cygnus white for a '79?
thanks

I recently saw this FJ40 for sale on EBAY. I had never seen this color before..but like it a lot. The listing said the truck was from Argentina.
Kind of looks like 653.

Thanks for sharing Wes, I was hoping it was a Tan color...and that sample looks much nicer than the 'old band-aid' color it turns into after 40 years. The only problem now is that while I want to go with the original color, Sundune White...my daughter wants Capri Blue...which I also like...

Pumpkin thread
I've been obsessed with the Pumpkin orange color for a while. I did a 40 last year in Pollux Orange #304. CCOT website has the supposedly exact match formula from Al for the elusive pumpkin orange paint.
I took Al Jacob's formula (seen here Pumpkin Orange Color by Al Jacobs) and had a rattle can made up to see if I liked the shade.
Anyway, here's a pic. Al Jacob's color is sprayed on top half of the hood.. Pollux Orange #304 is sprayed on the bottom half.
Al's formula is a bit more reddish and butterscotch looking. Pollox is a bit sharper of a shade of orange and is closer to a DPW orange tone.
Either one looks great but I think I'm going with Al's on my next project!
(I'll see if I can get a better quality picture)

J,
You made the right choice. That's a cool looking truck!
I do like the Pollux Orange #304... but it reminds me of a pushup

So it seems that the paint question about the silver/grey trim I was hoping to find on this thread wasn't really answered.
I've got a '72 808 Horizon Blue FJ40 and am looking for some information on what color to paint the following items: (all of which appear to be gray but are they the same gray?)
Front bumper
Rear bumperettes
seat frames (front and rear jump)
mirrors
ash tray
glove box door
gauge face plate cover
wiper motor
Wheels
I am trying to keep restore this one to original and would love to get the stock colors.
I found two on this thread
1) T1434 Gray Metallic
2) PPG 33071- 73 Toyota Warm silver poly
Any know the magic number? Thanks,

I really like the charcoal one in the above post. Mostly because you can see the white lettering on the tires turned inside
Are those just wagon wheels painted gloss black? They look too good to be...

Did anyone ever find a picture of a 40 that was 637 Olive Green?
I'm still interested in seeing one.
I ordered and Olive Green Canvas Ehsan Soft Top recently, what colors does everyone suggest.
Should I go back to 464 Beige -or- some sort of Olive Green???

The actual correct orange type color is called light dark persimmon. No, that's not a typo. I had a small amount of it made up. Still have it in the paint cabinet if anyone wants the code, pm me. Pumpkin/pollux never appeared in the us, fwiw.
