Hi, I'm new here, and I'm repairing my toyota, and I must decide the color of paint. Does some body here knows what color this is?
Thank you

653 is Olive Green, not Olive Brown. The color of that Cruiser is not even close to Olive Green. It's more like an Army Green.

I think that that is the lighter one, not the darker, but I am not sure.
I think landpimp dubbed it "baby $hit" which is buffalo brown

Dr. Claw. Is that orange/pink cruiser really a cruiser color? Did you take that picture?

I guess that would depend on your monitor. Looks like brown with a green tint on mine. Maybe a better picture would help. I got the color and code from the CCOT site.

Seems to me that No one is sure what colors were produced for a specific year. (Run overs and short runs)
I've been watching this thread for information on what colors were produced for 1972. I have something that looks like a light beige. This is from underneath where the black stuff in the fender well has peeled off, so there wouldn't be as much sun fade. If some one could Identify the colors by paint chips, I would be happy to send a chip in to them.
Thanks

OK, how about this color? My 40 was built in Dec. 1963. The color is a pinkish tan, and looks to be a factory, or else very thorough, paint job. The same color is in the engine bay, glove box, under the dash, etc. I've seen a few other 40's with a similar color (Metaltech ad in the latest TT), but don't know if this is a factory color or not. All info is appreciated!
Thx!
Chris

The tan fj40 in the metal tech ad is Ross Curry's rig. Mark said it wasn't a stock color. I had to ask Mark if it was stock because it printed kinda pink and I was afraid I had done something to the colors when I drew up that ad. Your color is stock and Wes (Wesintl) has the same color on his 63/64 FJ40.

Yeah, I saw the pics of Wes's 40, and thought it looked the same. Any idea of a color code or name? I can't find a code anywhere on the truck.

CCOT has color code 653 incorrectly named. 653 is Olive Green. If you look at Toyota's color naming schemes, you will see that the 400 series is browns, and the 600 series is greens.

That's why I tend to think it's coronado beige... I don't think the other 2 colors were used on 40's at that time. esp a colors very similar to each other. My gut feeling is they would use 1 out of those 3. I don't know though. I've seen coronado beige listed in old lit but never vovanic or lily.. maybe somone can correct me though, wouldn't be the first time
I can drive the 40 by and we can compare the colors.... they look very similar

The new glove box doors and speedo heads might have a little more metalic to them than that 65 door. Or the 65 door has faded out a bit.

I know Napa can mix original paint colors in spray cans for you. I checked Im doing mine freeborne red code 309 and it came right up on the computer. Just trying to find someone to spray it. (im not spray painting mine, using a proffesional sprayer but they said they could put it in cans )

"baby $hit" I agree with, but it's Olive. Everyone has their own idea of wheather it's Olive Green or Olive Brown. I have the original window sticker from my 3-78, which says it's "Olive". code: 653
It definitely changes from greenish to brownish as it ages, finally going to full rust brown, if you know what I mean. The color CCOT uses and featured on one of their calendar cruisers seems awfully light to me. This one looks like the good parts of my original paint.

Looking at the Toyota paint codes for Land Cruisers & trucks, the following seems to be Toyota's numbering convention for paint:
0xx series - whites
1xx series - silvers, grays
2xx series - blacks
3xx series - reds, oranges, maroons
4xx series - browns, beiges, coppers, golds
5xx series - yellows, golds
6xx series - greens
7xx series - turquoises, blues
8xx series - blues
9xx series - purples

FJ40 Paint
I am trying to find where I can buy a good quality paint for my 1977 Mustard Yellow FJ40. I can't find an exact match. Any Suggestions of who carries a good paint? The only place in town is a Napa autoparts and they can't match it. Mustard Yellow, Code 532

I think most places offer mail order. I buy my paint from Finishmaster here locally, not sure if they ship.

During WWII, many aircraft and vehicles in North Africa and Italy during the summer which were painted tan or sand faded to a pink color. Jeeps, amor and B-24 & B-25 bombers are some examples.
