Another spring green I saw on eBay. Been re-sprayed but matches the engine compartment pretty good:
I love thise older colors. I think 'calm' describes them pretty good.

Mine was Spring green originally. Never considered going back to it until seeing one restored that way. Easy on the eyes....But turn the BEZEL OVER wouldja!!
I love the little round park lights and have thought out making them my turn signals and getting rid of my wacked turn signals on the fenders.
I painted my cruiser Deser Sand...a Ford color....Pagan...

Color #653 is OLIVE GREEN. CCOT is the only listing showing it as Olive Brown. They are wrong! I would like to see a chart showing #653 as Olive Brown, other than on the CCOT website.

This is my 1971 FJ40. The paint is original. I have the original Toyota window invoice sheet, and it lists the color as "Capri Blue". The pre-delivery paperwork was dated June 11, 1971, and the plate in the door jamb is dated April 1971.
I mention the date because some sources mentioning color state that Capri Blue was only used through 1970, and was replaced in 1971 by Horizontal Blue.
If I can find the specific color code from the vehicle, I'll add it to this post. I'm not sure so far of exactly where to look. I don't see any other plates in any obvious locations.

I need help finding my color code.....it is a 74 fj40...it is green , a light green , does not look like rustic green it may be nebula green....what greens were available in 1974?
there is no plate on the truck showing the code...there is only one plate on the truck and it is on the drivers side forward door frame.
I just started the resto. on this thing and rally like the color...it has been painted dark green outside but is light inside.

Just being new to the entire FJ environment I am not seeing any pics of color combos like mine. I am assuming that my doors are not original. I know the PO had it painted this mustard yellow, the original color seems to be some type of grey or beige. Why he would have painted the top all the same color was probably out of convience. Any thougths?

treeroot,
That Freeborn Red you have posted is My old 1983. It has incorrect wheels and flares in the rear.
I sold it to Vintage Off Road.....
Have not seen that one in years. IT had 47k when I sold it in 2003.......Amazing what you will find here......

Toyota Paint in Spray Cans
I have been told several times that you can buy Automotive paint in aerosol (spray) paint cans. I am looking for #622 Nebula Green and #012 Cygnus White. Does anyone have any idea where I can get them? Hopefully someone will work in a paint store or know of one online that id familiar with the old toyota paint codes.
Thanks,
Ryan.
