I have an Oct. 74 FJ 40 that the PO had single staged by Macco what appears to be very close to the Freeborn Red. I"ve looked this rig over pretty good and find what appears to be Rustic Green in the Glovebox and a couple other spots. My question is ,was the Rustic Green a factory original color for an Oct. 74 FJ ?

Got this color from autocolorlibrary.com, PPG #33071 - 73 Toyota, warm silver poly. Next to my 65 lv glove box door. Very tough color to spray, tough time getting the metalic to lay down evenly.
The new glove box doors and speedo heads might have a little more metalic to them than that 65 door. Or the 65 door has faded out a bit.

They have new guns that have a mixer in the can so the metallic stays suspended.

I have found that there is great disparity in the silvers on new OEM parts. The front bumper and rear bumperettes are very similar. The silver paint on the rear view mirror varies. The silver on the sun visors is different. Also the silver on the canvas top door handles is then another silver.
The silver powder that TLC uses is way off in my opinion. I did get the powder shop here to use a metallic silver (Morton-Anodized Aluminum) and then they extended the bake cycle to darken the powder to match the new OEM front bumper.
I have also found that acrylic enamel is easier to spray in metallic that acrylic urethane.

Here is a Color Picker I did a while back.....wait till the images load, then mouse over to change color:

This one is lame, but fun to try and create your cruiser color:

Mine still has orginal paint and it is in decent condition. A repaint is due this spring funds and time willing. I am not sure of the color code, perhaps someone more wise can give the specs... I have always called it smurf blue, or homosexual blue... but I doubt Toyota called it that.

The green that was on early starters, generators, and distributors is Dupont GS176A. I got a rattle can mixed up in Centari. I'll spray somethign this weekend with it and post up a pic.

I was talking about your rigs Razor . I really like the two green 40s you did because of the original colors, original lines, and the great photography.
