IFS rims on my 40?

Will the stock steel rims off of a 92 pickup fit on my stock 72 axle? I used the search button, but didnt find anything of substance. If memory serves, the answer is no, but I hope Im wrong.

I`m pretty sure the backspacing isn`t enough.

THe only option I know of is using adapters from Marlin Crawler and others to move the wheels out.

I've got 15"x7" steel wheels off a '91 4Runner on my '73 55 ... I run tall skinnys though. What would be the problem?

I thought they would hit the tie rod ends. I have never tried the version you have, but IIRC the alloy ones and others wont clear.

I would be running something like 10.50 bfg/at's.

The rims are only going to cost $20 total, so if I have to get some spacers I guess it wouldnt hurt too much. I have never used spacers before and I know it is a touchy subject, but if you guys want to throw in a few opinions, Im not against hearing them. Im on the fence about spacers. The 40 will see 70% on road duties and about as hard of a 30% off road as I can give it, so lemme have it with your opinions.

I also have a nice set of Taco alloys with new 33" AT/KO's that I could conceivably swap over, and Im sure I could use the spacers for that as well.

"my" 40 has had 1/4" spacers at all four corners for almost ten years now, i'm not seeing any problems, and it sees ALOT of pavement....
