Restored my 72 FJ40, never had jump seats, so purchased a pair supposedly from a '72. Set them in the tub to be sure the mounting points lined up on the rail, which they did, then promptly set out for sand blasting.

Ordered replacement covers from CruiserCorps, have their covers on the front seats and love them. Ordered the 9/71 - 9/72 model w/ the one side slanted bottom... It doesn't fit! Not long enough by at least 1.5 inches.

Then thought maybe they are the 1965 - 9/71 model, but the dimensions on the item description are still off.

Has anyone had this trouble?

Here is my project.

Might help to post some pictures of the seats. Project looks nice but need pictures of the jump seats to help.

The seats are at the powder coater so no pictures. I discovered the seat covers don't fit because I tried to fit the original foam set into them.

What I need to know what the difference is between the 1965 - 9/71, and the 9/71 - 9/72 jump seats.

T...What I need to know what the difference is between the 1965 - 9/71, and the 9/71 - 9/72 jump seats.

My early 1971 jump seat dimensions are as follows:

Backrest:
32" long, just under 11" high.

Seat - One end is angled.
Rear of seat 35"
Front of seat 32"
Depth 15.5".

Note that the 32" dimension is taken just under the curved edges, a couple of inches from the front edge. And all dimensions are across the metal back or bottom, not across the fabric.

Thank-you for those dimensions!

Now, anyone with 9/71 - 9/72 dimensions taken the same way?

Thanks in advance for taking the time.

That thing is super clean!

Here are the dimensions for our jump seat straps

7.5" - 1958-9/1973
8.75" - 9/1973-4/1978
11" - 5/1978-10/1984

Is it possible that the jump seats came out of a later year FJ40?

Thanks CruiserCorps. Your seat covers are fantastic. After ordering the 9/71 - 9/72 and not fitting (bottom to short) I believe they are pre 9/71.
I will contact you shortly.
