FJ40 carburetor..??

OK, so my FJ40,when purchased, had a Weber performance carb on it. I want to put an Edelbrock or a Rochester on, but they don't make one for it. Has this ever been done? If so, can someone point me in the right direction? All I've been able to find are Webers and Holleys...

If you are talking the language of webers and holleys, then it's prolly safe to assume that you are also talking 6 cylinder, although you do not say so.

FWIW, MAF offered Rochester carbs and adapers DECADES ago and although they have long since abandoned them, there are still a number of used units available if you feel like bolting a toilet bowl onto your motor!

Most people on this board are more than satisfied with running the stock Aisan carbs that their cruisers left Japan with. They are still readily available, and depending on your year of application, can be modified for more performance as well. There are numerous threads on this board discussing how to rebuild one, or if it does not suit you, you can send it to someone like myself to have it rebuilt.

BTW, welcome to MUD!

I have a rochester 1 bbl you can have for shipping, but my first advice would be to put an aisin on and dont look back. My aisin runs better with all kinds of vacuum leaks and stuff then the rochester did. Use the search option on the top right and I'm sure you can find any carb answer imanginable.

Welcome to MUD!!!

If you are running the 2F, run an Aisan carb or go to some form of FI...

Just so you know, Mark (65swb45) above would be one excellent source for an Aisan carb, or could rebuild a ratty Aisan unit you find locally! Jim C. (FJ40Jim) would be another.

Good Luck!

my carb

This is off subject kind of but I have a question for my own personal gain. How do I tell if I have an Asian carb or some aftermarket one? I have looked all over it and I can't find any identifying marks.

It will say "Aisan" on the front, under the sight glass...

So what are the major steps in rebuilding a stock carb besides a good cleaning, blowing out all the ports, replacing gaskets and acc. pump along with other parts that come with the kit? Is there an easy explanation of the performance enhancements or do those take years of experience?
