Two 12v lights on a 24v system

Hello Cruiserheads,

Here's a question that has been nagging my head for a while - My BJ40 is a 24v everything system (prob. Nato specs??) I dont have any electric device that is 12v in it besides some of the instruments which have a big resistor inside.

Now I bought a pair of auxiliary lights which are 12v, so I was thinking about putting them in series, my thinking is that 2 - 12v devices in series should have no problem using 24v power... What do you guys think? Will I get good power out of them? Would lights be somewhat dim? Or should I just forget this idea and go spend in 24v halogen replacement bulbs?

thanks

My '82 BJ42 is 24volt everything except for headlights.
If your headlights are set up for 24v, then that is what you should use.
If you put in 12v lights, they will live a very bright, but very short life.
Regardless of how you wire them.

What engine you puttin' in your 71?

I replaced the tired F engine for a rebuilt Toyota B diesel that I had sitting around!

2 x 12v in series will work, but if one blows they both go out.

Buy 24v bulbs
