Well I traded my '85 FJ60 away for this '77 FJ40.The 40 is in good shape, and runs like a champ. It does have the normal rusty spots and one of the rockers was crushed, but the tub is pretty good.It definitely needs some love, and I am pumped to give it to her.It has an 8000# Koenig winch, that I figured was a pto,but no its electric. My plans are...I dont know yet, just glad to have a 40 again. My second vehicle at 16 years old was a '77 FJ40.I traded a Willeys for it,and never looked back.Ready,Go
That is an interesting front bumper... Did the PO have boxes monuted on those plates, could be an idea for mounting extra jerry cans, although being in the front seems a bit more dangerous, lol
I can't see from the side pic, but is there a welded support under the corner of the plate closes to the tires?
Big-O tires... :-(, I really miss them being here in the south, I had some 33's on my old 4 runner I got in WY
My 77 looked pretty good before but this is the way it came out now after all the body work rust removal and new paint. You should be able to get at least this good for sure!
The four doors had rusty bottoms, we cut them off and used the Cool Cruisers bottom metal for the doors, worked perfectly.
Also had the lights in the body, these are out now and the body is back to stock again, or very close. The lights are back where they belong on the frame
Here's my '77 FJ40. It's got a MAF suspension and cheesy white rims...time to start thinking about a carb rebuild and replacing the vacuum lines. Other than that, it's hangin' in there...
I literally did a quick trade, had time for two photos, and then it went into my dads garage(thanks dad).I had to get back to work,so I have no details about this rig.Tomorrow I will give it a good inspection. Thanks for the pics.lookin good!

SUA. 76 front. Saginaw. Detroit out back. Waiting for me right now.
So i finally got over to the 40 today.Hardtop cap had a crack,so I removed it,to get it repaired.Ended up taking the top apart,and gutting the interior.I figured I might as well do a frame off,and get everything blasted and undercoated.So thats the plan.My cap is pretty beat,does anyone sell a replacement?Also replacement front fenders.Heres the 60 I traded.Rough body,but ran like a champ.It was a fair trade,although I think I won
is that pedestal for the rear heater factory? That's actually a good idea...

Looks great, and Cheesy white rims are an essential part of the '70's look :P
Looks like you got a fair deal Sawtooth, looking forward to the rebuild pics

Your body looks pretty good. It needs a little love, but many start with much worse.
Replacement fiberglass tops are available, but id recommend repairing yours or buying a used one that is in better shape. Complete hardtops can often be found for $500. The fiberglass top used can often be found for $0-150. Replacement ones are something like $1500+ from what I've seen on here.
Thanks for the info guys.I will be repairing the cap I have, after all.The rear heater does sit on a stock riser.Just need to get the tub off now.Snapped many bolt heads, so drill and tap is next.Got a call today from some guy saying,he needed some old toyota moved off his property.Went for a look,it was a gem with extra parts galore. So going for another 40 tomorrow, still not sure where to put it though

Looks like a two car garage. You could likely fit three 40s in it.
