I'm curious to see how people are routing the hoses and plumbing the fluid heat riser. Thanks.

Hi All:

There is an aftermarket fluid heat riser for the carburetor on the 2F in my FJ40 that was installed by the previous owner back in the early 1990s.

The heat riser mounts underneath the carb and looks like a flat plate. There are 2 hose fittings on this plate. One hose is routed to a "T" fitting (located behind the alternator) on the heater return hose. The other fitting is connected to a hose that goes to a "T" fitting into a heater hose at the rear of the engine (by the firewall.)

Clear as MUD? :D Here are some pics.

HTH!

Thanks. I was wondering if it was better to T off a line or run it inline with a heater hose.

I ran my inline with the heater, just come off the head to the riser, then from the riser over to the heater fittings on the firewall. Requires some new heater hose, but you pretty much retain the stock routing. I'm sure I came out and around the manifold to get away from the header.
