Bolt Pattern and Oil filter for my FJ40....

Here's my deal, I am a new owner and in my research stages just trying to get info so I'm at least educated. I need to know what oil filter I need for my F2 in my 74 FJ40 and I need to know the bolt pattern as I would like to replace the rims. What can I swap and get rims off of?

Thanks a lot!

I think its 6 on 5.5" and the parts store should be able to tell you what filter to use.

oil filter

The factory Toyota oil filters are said to be best. Available at any Toyota dealer.

Whatever you do, be sure to use an oil filter with an anti-drainback valve, such as factory or the Fram Tough Guard (not the orange Fram).

Here is the stock rim info from my files:

"6 on 5.5 with a 3.5 inch or less offset. 3.75 will clear drums but not disk calipers. Stock offset is approximately 3.375".

I just switched to stock rims from some nasty wrong-offset ones and I love 'em!

Just make sure you get a good oil filter from a parts store the # I cannot remember this early, The bolt pattern is very common, but the back set of the wheel is harder to come by I believe it is 3.25 inches so that it does not hit the front Tie rod ends. Try using the search engine in this tech forum as both have been discussed and cover alot. good luck

There are some threads in both the 80 and 60 FAQ about oils, and contained therein are also some opinions as to filters.

You want no more than 3.5" of backspacing. You will have issues with a 15" wheel and more backspacing than 3.5".
