A little backstory on that cruiser, my buddy bought it along with another one for 200 dollars from a contact that owns a wrecking business before he took them to get scrapped. The other one (a black '78) donated its entire drivetrain to a friend's '73 after we rebuilt it. This one was a very nice condition runner except for the usual rear sill cancer. He got a title for it and was going to flip it given how he had 6 other cruisers. Fast forward 8 years to present day and that's how it sits, it always had the ammo can which I always heard was a "rare factory option" that would cause an argument as I didn't believe it. The poor thing looks stupid as it sits given how it has a pristine seafoam interior, perfect seats, is complete down to the toolkit and would make a killer restoration (coming from someone that isn't a huge fan of restorations).
I offered to buy it from him twice, before each of my own cruisers, but the price kept increasing while the cruiser has done nothing but rot further (first time I was told 3 grand

, second time 8!

) so I bought my '69 and '63 for much much less. It'd be an easy resto but given how the good guy price I get quoted is more than I'd ever consider for a '40 in that condition I have a feeling it'll sit another 8 years.
