is my frt driveshaft installed correctly?

I think its backwards?

Yep, Most people would put the slip shaft towards the transfer case. Make sure the yokes are in phase also before you reinstall.

Try this page - Driveline 101. Go about 3/4 of the way down and you will see a section on phasing. Basically, you want your u-joints lined up correctly. Otherwise, you will have a vibration and it will fail prematurely.

when i went to 4 speeds on my 69 and 70 i put the d shafts in that way 1 was back in 76 and no problems .but it comes from the factory the other way .

I'm glad I checked this thread. I removed my rear DS to service the e-brake. Could not get the thing bolted back up. So I removed the yoke from the slip, rotated it a bit and it fit. Turns out I was taking it out of phase!
