Aisan Carb Questions

I am in the process of rebuilding my 71 Aisan 2bbl Carb. This will be my first carb rebuild and I had a few quick questions that I am sure one of you gurus out there will know.

1. On the bottom of the bowl there are 2 access bolts so that you can remove your jets. On the inside of both bolts there seem to be another set of jets. Are these just spares or do the actually serve a purpose.

2. Is there a way to take the diaphragm apart so I can dip the metal pieces in carb dip. Is this something I need to do or am I just going a little overboard.

3. Behind and above the gas inlet there is another bolt that has a spot for what appears to be another jet. SOR calls it a carb strainer. Is this just like a backup incase your fuel filter takes a $h!t on you.

Thanks,

1) It's just a cool place to keep your spares.
2) what diaphragm?
3 yes.

Originally, "high altitude" sized jets came in there.

The primary main jet spare (left side) is 1.08 mm as opposed to 1.12 for the primary main jet.

The power jet spare is .8mm as opposed to .9 for the power jet.

They are to be used at about 6600 feet altitude and above, according to the manual.

Power Valve

I took my power valve out and when I did the spring was super brittle and it broke. I am guessing that the rebuild kit does not come with a power valve. I was wondering could I get a spring out of a pen and put it on the power valve and still have it work correctly.

Thanks,
