3B into an fj40 questions.

Hello,,
I am puting a 3B with a 4sp (h42) and splitcase from an 82 Bj60
into a 78 fj40..
Are the trans mounts the same between the bj42 and bj60? I need to order a new one. The only ones I have seen (pic below) seems to be the same.
I will make my own brackets for the motor mounts, is possible to use the 2F monuts or should I get 3B mounts and from what BJ?
I have already confirmed that speedo will not be an issue, and
I can use a shifter from an h42 that was in a 40 in the h42 that is behind the 3B, but feel free to correct me otherwise.
I am removing the front 2f motor mount brackets from the frame , would I need to remove the rear right side one too?
What is the best source for a rad?

Thanks for any feed back and comments.

Ok started putting the 3b motor and trans into the 40, so I have few more questions.

This is just the first test to see what is up ahead.
Now I will explain what I have done, before I ask questions.
I just used whatever original holes I can find on the frame to bolt the 2F motor brackets back so I can get the shifter as close to where it should be as possible.
Bare ine mind there is not crossmember in there and the original mounts are broken , also I was only able to find 1 hole to bolt the driver side bracket, so I chained it .
I think this is where the 3B should be as far as horizontal location , but I need opinions.
The problem is this will require making new drive shafts out of the old ones sense they won't fit? What do you say?
This location will put the fan about 3" from the rad and will leave a lot of room between the motor and firewall.
To get the old drive shafts to fit, I will have to move the motor back about 4.5" where I still have clearance from the st box , but it is very tight in the firewall, also I would likely have deal with the crossmember behind the transfercase, and possibly have to modify the trans cover which like I said is welded to the floor.

If I use a top shifter from the original gas 4sp , the old drive shafts will work , but sill have to deal with the crossmember, and still be tight and the fan will be about 7.5" from the rad.
So please post your opinion.
Next I will get the rad fitted , fix the motor mounts, and get the trans mount bolted ( It is been fixed as we speek), and proceede.
Thanks in advance.

I have never seen an engine covered in so much oil and dirt. Are you really planning on using that motor? It looks like it has has 400,000 miles of hard use.

Vicm:

There's a build thread in my signature. A 1979 FJ-40 getting a 3B/H55f.

The 3B is from a BJ-73, so I ended up fabbing my own motor mounts to the frame. Many pictures in the build thread.

Thanks Dan,
Very nice work.
I have read your 3B convrersion few times, it looks like I have the engine located at the right spot. I only need to go higher about 2".
Once I get the rad in place and cross-member under the Transmission, I should be good to go.
BY the way your motor mounts are slightly different than mine.
I am going to look at another 60 with 3B and 4sp , was told that it runs A1, but the body is rusted. The seller wants about 700-800 for it. I might buy it if I am able to run it in the yard ,till I finish all the work I am doing to the 40.
It will take me about 2 to 3 years to get the 40 ready, but I wanted to get the 3B set up on the frame before I remove the tub.
Thanks for your respones, and thanks to all.
I have saved some pics from your thread and I will be fine to go ahead.
Vic
